Belonging
We offer a community that welcomes and encourages people where they can receive immediate relief and ongoing support.
Dignity
We believe every person matters.
Led by our Community Farmer who applies a permaculture approach, volunteer and community members plant, weed and harvest fresh produce for our Food Market and for distribution to other food security agencies across Guelph.
Hope House is one of many organizations that offers a helping hand to members of our community here in Guelph. We believe that partnering and working with others is the best way to serve people at all corners of our community.
Hope in Motion distributes food, clothing, hygiene products and other essential supplies to other service providers in and around Guelph. Hope House receives generous quantities of donated goods each day, and this service ensures that any overflow finds its way to access points throughout the city.
Our horticultural therapy programming is possible thanks funding from the Ontario Trillium Foundation and a partnership with The Julien Project. The Julien project is a community-based, charitable organization that provides social and therapeutic gardening opportunities for people of diverse backgrounds and abilities enabling personal growth, community membership, and environmental wellbeing.
Their registered horticultural therapist leads educational kitchen workshops for the Hope House community that use local organic vegetables grown in our gardens at the Ignatius Jesuit Centre.
Through the support of volunteers, we are able to offer a take-away breakfast four days per week for community members.
These breakfasts provide a light, nutritious meal and help to get a good start on the day. Breakfasts change each morning, and some days are as simple as muffins and yogurt, and other mornings we offer breakfast sandwiches thanks to the generous support of Tricar Properties and Robusta Café.
Hope Hope operates and advocates on the belief that poverty, food insecurity, inequality, health and community are interconnected. Our café is a warm place where everyone in our community can enjoy a warm beverage and build healthy relationships with others. These types of connections can be instrumental in lifting people out of poverty.
Over the years, we’ve watched community members from all walks of life bond and form wonderful friendships in our café – and we look forward to seeing many more.
